You must register for the event BY FRIDAY 25 MARCH in order to participate. You must be insured for skating with Skate WA to participate (single use event insurance is available to purchase for $25 cash on the day). This year all skaters must wear a helmet to be insured for the event.
Individual registration details (name, ph number, Skate WA number etc) are required for each participant. Please make sure you fill these in correctly once you have purchased tickets. Event insurance is available on the day. If you are already insured to skate with Skate WA this event is free however you will need to provide your Skate WA number which you can get from your league secretary. This year all skaters are required by Skate WA to wear a helmet.
Lucky Skates presents the 2016 HAM-ROLL-A-THON 20km Outdoor Skate.
The fun and family friendly event gives roller skaters and bladers an opportunity to test their endurance and hang out with like-minded skaters away from the rink. This event is an on skates event for roller skaters and roller bladers only.
Date: Monday 28th March (Easter Monday)
Start Location: South Trigg Beach Car Park, Trigg.
To take part in the 2016 HAM Roll-A-Thon you need to have current skaters Skate WA insurance and provide us with your insurance number. If you don't have skater insurance our event sponsor Skate WA has kindly agreed to provide coverage for skaters participating in the event for $25. If you need to purchase event insurance you must bring $25 cash with you on the day of the event and prepay. This year Skate WA requires all skaters to wear a helmet to be covered by their insurance.
Children can take part but must be supervised by an adult at all times (no drop and run!) and must participate with a responsible adult. 20km is a really long way so you should have a back up plan (and a support vehicle ready to pick up the child in case they can't make it).
This event is skate at your own risk. You will be required to sign a disclaimer.

F.A.Qs
Is it a race?
No, it’s just a fun, social skate but some participants love a bit of friendly competition.
If I do not have Insurance can I participate?
No, you must purchase event insurance at the cost of $25 and you must wear a helmet to be covered by this insurance.
What happens if it is raining on the day?
Please stay up to date via our FB page.
How long does it take to skate the course?
Well, green group will probably get there around 12pm (2 hours), yellow group will be there around 12.30pm (2.5 hours), orange group around 1.30pm (3.5 hours) and red group will roll in at around 2-ish (4 hours). These times are based on the 2015 HAM Roll-a-thon and are just an approximation.
Can my kids come?
Sure, but if they are under the age of 18 you must take full responsibility for them and an adult must supervise them the entire time. You cannot drop and run. If you have several children you may want to provide several adults to supervise them and your own support vehicle in case they get tired (or you get tired of them). 20km is a long way. If they get tired and crap out you will need to take full responsibility for them.
Can I come for part of the course?
Sure, but you will need to start at the starting point. If you are going to leave halfway through you will need to notify your team leader.
I've never skated outdoors before. Should I come?
No. If you have never skated outdoors before you should not start by going on a 20km outdoor skate. The HAM Roll is not easy. You must be able to go up and down hills, skate on smooth and rough surfaces and be able to stop yourself by plowing or transitioning. You need to have been outdoor skating at least 4 times before coming on a HAM Roll.
